Who is an overseas
pharmacist? If you have obtained your pharmacy degree,
diploma or certificate from a pharmacy school in your country and want to
go to and work in another country, then you are an overseas
pharmacist or a foreign pharmacist in the country
you want to go to and work in. You are a local or domestic
pharmacist in your country.
For example, you are a registered pharmacist in the United
States. You want to work in Australia. Then you are
a domestic pharmacist in the United States and an
overseas or foreign
pharmacist in Australia. If you want to work in
Australia, you need to follow the guidelines issued
by the office governing pharmacists in Australia.
Whatever be your professional standing and
achievement in your country, it is generally not
fully recognized in most foreign countries until you satisfy the
requirements for an overseas pharmacist in that country.
The four essential steps in becoming a successful overseas
pharmacist are:
- Passing the qualification examination or
getting exemption
- Getting temporary or permanent registration
- Obtaining a pharmacist training position or a
pharmacist job
- Obtaining visa or residence permit
The other factors you need to consider are:
- Language
- Social life
- Accommodation
- Transport
- Family
